One could call it very "filmy", but we can't deny that there was an instant attraction the moment we saw each other for the first time at my cousin's wedding. In his words, the moment he walked in and saw me dancing he just had to find out who this curly-haired girl was. Apparently the curls had a lot to do with the attraction. Little did he know at that time that this cousin of his friend (the bride), would one day become his wife. It is no surprise that he has brought in much happiness & laughter into my life because that's the note on which this whole thing began.
I had a total of 4 functions as part of my wedding celebration. Since we belong to two different religions we decided to mix it up a bit while also keeping it neutral. The night before the official wedding was our Mehendi function, which was held in the backyard of my house.
This was for just very close friends and relatives. I chose to wear a dark blue lehenga for this function, which I bought from Kalki in Mumbai. My mehendi was done by my aunt, and my make up was done by my cousin. The next morning was my thaalikett function, which was also held in the backyard of my house.
Raunak and I come from two very different backgrounds. My roots are in Orissa, while I was brought up in America. Whereas, Raunak's life revolved mainly around Trivandrum and Cochin. So while planning our wedding, we knew we somehow wanted to incorporate everyone into this wedding. After a lot of thinking, we decided to hold each function in a different location, each place incorporating a segment of our lives so everyone could have a chance to attend and feel as though they were a part of our wedding. Our Engagement was held in Balasore, Orissa, hometown of my Dad. This city was a vacation destination for many of my childhood summers. Its where I created all of my memories with my grandparents and cousins, which I carry very fondly with me till date. So I knew this had be one of the places where I would hold a ceremony.
